About the Presenter
Tom Niesen has worked with heat transfer technologies for building systems for more than 30 years. He began working in research and development for Command Aire, the heat pump division of Trane, and then for Packless Industries, a manufacturer of heat exchangers used throughout the GeoExchange industry. He has spent 17 years at Gateway Technical College, serving as division chair of manufacturing, and most recently as the alternative energy instructor/division chair.
In 2010 he developed Gateway’s GeoExchange curricula on a National Science Foundation Grant and a Wisconsin State Grant for New and Emerging Technologies. Part of the Grant award was to develop a unique GeoExchange drilling program, the first in the country. Currently the GeoExchange Lead at Gateway, Niesen is training students in the newly created GeoExchange/HVACR AAS Degree program.
