Student Testimonials

"YLEC has given me a new perspective on my community as well as introducing me to local leaders and I made great friends along the way!"
Klare Armstrong, YLEC Class of 2009, Memorial High School Student

"I've always thought that being a leader was intimidating. Well, YLEC got me straight on this. It's not about self-esteem, but about caring. The whole program was a bliss and something I'll remember and use the rest of my life."
SunYung (Monica) Kim, YLEC Class of 2009, North High School Student

""YLEC is by far one of the best programs I have been in. The things I have been able to learn about and see in our community have been so helpful in pointing me in the right direction for my future."
Scott Mundt, YLEC Class of 2009, Memorial High School Student

"YLEC has been the highlight of my month many times. I have made great friends from are schools I would have probably never met if it wasn't for YLEC. The sweet retreat in the summer with the ropes course was one of the coolest things I did all summer. I highly recommend to anyone who is considerign applying to apply as soon as possible so you can experience this excellent program."
Joseph Zawacki, YLEC Class of 2009, Regis High School Student

"Before this program, I had no idea what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I still don't know, but YLEC gave me a great opportunity to observe a wide variety of businesses and to talk to employees and owners. I may not know what I want to be when I grow up, but at least I have an idear of what kinds of careers are out there."
Joe Shook, YLEC Class of 2008, Memorial High School Student

"I think that YLEC gives high schoolers a chance to learn about things that are impossible to see from the inside of a classroom.... YLEC exposes you to careers you may not have known about or had a misconstrued idea about what they do. Besides the Wednesday meeting each month, the group service projects teach you truly how to work together as a group with students that you are not with everyday at school and accomplish a goal. The projects are very rewarding and fulfilling to see what you have accomplished whether it be an event put on for the community or a product made for the benefit of others. Meeting deadlines, cooperation, and professionalism all played a major part. On top of all of the great experiences and valuable things learned throughout the year, you get to meet some pretty fantastic people!"
Avonlea Quinn, YLEC Class of 2007, Altoona High School Graduate

"I appreciate the way YLEC opened my eyes to the wide variety of business careers available in the Eau Claire area. I like to think YLEC had an impact on why I now find myself studying business at the Carlson School of Management."
Justin Carlson, YLEC Class of 2006, North High School Graduate

"I absolutely loved YLEC. I was in the class of 2006 and I thought it was an amazing chance to meet other students from different schools in the Eau Claire area. Also, I had no idea that Eau Claire offered so many different opportunities. The leaders were my favorite because they always made things fun! Thank you so much for letting me be in your program! I feel honored to have participated."
